What to do if you find live termites?
Live termites on your property is concerning and there are important things you should do if you find them.
- If you have uncovered them, cover them back up and limit any further disruption. Disturbing termites can cause them to block their usual routes or spread, which can reduce the effectiveness of a termite treatment.
- Contact a licensed, qualified and insured termite specialist. Your termite technician should perform a full inspection and provide you with a quote and termite management plan.
- While it can be tempting, avoid spraying with pesticides or chemicals as this is best left to professionals who are trained in treatment of termites and carry appropriate products.

How to get rid of termites?
Removing termites is only one part of termite management. Active Termite Solutions follows a 4-step process which keeps you in the loop and provides peace-of-mind.
- Assess: Active Termite Solutions will attend the property and assess the situation. We'll look at site conditions, areas of concern, and formulate a plan of attack.
- Advise: We'll provide you with a full quote for approval, and once approved we develop a Termite Management Action Plan which outlines our recommendations.
- Action: Once approved, we get to work with a full Termite Inspection (AS3660.2-2017). Our treatment will include the use of various methods and products such as liquid termiticide, foam and baits. Drilling into walls, ceilings and skirting, and cutting access panels, are generally required to undertake treatments. We will then re-visit the site after several weeks to assess treatment effectiveness.
- Maintain: After successfully treating the termites, a termite management system is recommended to be installed. This may include either a Chemically Treated Zone (previously known as a chemical barrier), a Bait Station System, or a combination of both. These systems have various life expectancies and service requirements. You'll also be recommended on-going termite inspections.
