GENERAL PEST FAQ
How much is a general pest treatment?
Pest treatments take into consideration the size of the property being treated, the level of infestation of the pest, and the products used. A standard inspection and treatment is around $240 for most sized homes. This covers not only the time of the inspector and products used, but also all insurances, licenses, equipment maintenance and ensuring a high level of service without compromise.
How long does a pest treatment take?
Your pest control inspection and treatment can take anywhere from 45 minutes to 1.5 hours depending on the size of the property and level of treatment required.
Some great ways to prepare for, and make the most of, your pest treatment are as follows;
- Ensure all windows are closed to the property
- All animals and people are removed from site.
- Cover or store away all food items and utensils
- Where possible move furniture etc off walls so your pest management technician can treat the skirting boards.
- Ensure home is tidy, floors are swept and clean.
- Ensure the rear of cupboards under sinks are fully accessible.
- Ensure lawns are mowed and the yard is generally tidy and free from stored good, debris, toys, food and faeces.
- All fish tanks/aquariums/ponds, bird cages/aviaries must be covered with a chemically impervious cover and the pump turned off. If this is not possible the tanks/aquariums/ponds should be removed from the property entirely until the location has been fully ventilated and is dry.
- Your inspector will want to treat areas accessible, so if the property is heavily stored with goods, your treatment will not be as effective as it could be.
Note: This is not a complete or comprehensive list. Consult your agreement with Active Termite Solutions for further information.

TERMITE FAQ
How much is a termite inspection?
Termite Inspections are required on your home at least every 12 months, and more often for high risk properties. A good termite inspection is to Australian Standards, this ensures proper methods and equipment are used. A Termite Inspection by a professional, fully trained individual will cost around $285 for a standard annual inspection, and more if there are active termites, it is a large or older property, and other variations. A Free Termite Check as offered by cheaper companies may not be in your best interest.
How long does a termite inspection take?
To perform a high standard of inspection, your termite specialist may take anywhere from 1 hour up to 3 hours - this depends on whether active termites are found or not, and the size and condition of the property.
Can I do my own termite treatment?
It is not recommended that you perform your own termite treatment. Treating termites is an extensive process and begins with a Termite Inspection (AS3660.2-2017), a formal termite management plan is then drafted for approval, and then treatment can begin. Using industry leading products, your termite manager will use a targeted and systematic treatment approach. If you find termites, do not disturb them, and call a professional, licensed termite manager immediately.
How do I prepare for a termite inspection?
Preparing for a Termite Inspection is relatively straightforward. We recommend, where possible:
- Move furniture and stored items at least 60 centimetres away from walls to allow access for the inspection.
- Trim back plants, remove timber piles and clear any debris around the house to improve visibility.
- Empty cupboards under kitchen bathroom and laundry sinks to give access to plumbing areas.
- Clear out storage from the roof void and subfloor so the inspector can check for termite activity.
- Unlock and provide access to the garage shed and any other outbuildings and rooms for a full inspection.
- Advise the inspector if you've had any concerns about particular areas.
- Provide details of any previous termite treatments including chemical barriers or baiting systems.
- Keep pets secured in a safe area or outside to avoid interference with the inspection.
- Ensure someone is home or arrange access to all necessary areas for the inspector.
